Santa Fe – Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS) is pleased to announce approval of a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) to expand dental services in southern Sandoval County.

PMS is working closely with Sandoval County government officials to make the new dental clinic a reality.  The clinic will officially open on Monday, February 10, 2014.  The name and location will be:

PMS - Sandoval County Health Commons Dental Services

Sandoval County Health Commons Building

1500 Idalia Road, Bldg B

Bernalillo, NM 87004

Tel. 505-404-5894

Cheri Nipp, PMS Central Region Director, expressed her excitement about the new dental services.  “We are very grateful to Sandoval County government for their support throughout the planning process.  Thanks to them, we have a wonderful location for the dental clinic, co-located with other public health services at the Health Commons Building.  We’re thrilled that our very experienced Dental Director from Northern Sandoval County, Dr. David Hanson, has agreed to head up the new clinic in Bernalillo.  His staff will include a Certified Dental Assistant, a Dental Aide, and a Customer Access Representative.  We can’t wait to get started!”

Peggy Cote, Director of Community Services for Sandoval County added, “We’re extremely happy to be able to offer a full range of dental services to Sandoval County residents. That has been one of our goals since the Health Commons opened a decade ago."

According to Steve Hansen, PMS PResident and CEO, “There is a lot of need in our state, and I’m grateful that PMS has been entrusted to help fill this need.  This is an exciting opportunity for PMS to expand our efforts to build a healthier state.”

As with all PMS health centers, the new dental clinic will accept Medicare, Medicaid, as well as commercial insurance.  For uninsured patients, payment is on a sliding fee scale based on income.
